One of Rebbe Nachman’s most memorable stories, from his classic work “Rabbi Nachman’s Stories”, is “The Sophisticate and the Simpleton” (pp. ). In the story, the Simpleton has very little formal education and is very limited in his : Chaim Kramer.

The title, "A Simpleton," is not quite new. There is a French play called La Niaise. But La Niaise is in reality a woman of rare intelligence, who is taken for a simpleton by a lot of conceited fools, and the play runs on their blunders, and her unpretending wisdom. That is a very fine plot, which I recommend to our female novelists. The Simpleton is about a young man, who, at age seven was injured in an accident and mentally, never progressed beyond that age. He, Cuddy, lived a life without worry or responsibility, being only the equivalent of seven years of age. He's been bullied and picked upon by cruel children and adults alike/5().

The book on the left has more about the history of the Orient Express, the book on the right concentrates on the restored Venice Simplon Orient Express. Also recommended is 'The Orient Express - The life and times of the world's most famous train' by E H Cookridge.   Read "The Simpleton" by Turkish Fairy Tales available from Rakuten Kobo. I enjoyed the beginning of the book, which I thought handled pretty well the back story of the simpleton and the events leading up to his transformation. The latter half of the book seemed rushed and poorly developed, as if the author was just trying to wrap it up and get it delivered.

Simplicissimus, novel by Hans Jacob Christoph von Grimmelshausen, the first part of which was published in as Der abentheurliche Simplicissimus Teutsch (“The Adventurous Simplicissimus Teutsch”). Considered one of the most significant works of German literature, it contains a satirical and partially autobiographical picture set during the Thirty Years’ War.

Grimmelshausen's grotesque realism is the primary literary testimony of the Thirty Years' War--and the human folly implicit in it--by an errant soldier of fortune. Influenced by the Spanish picaresque novel, the saga of Simplicius takes its hero through wars, marriages, and travels that culminate on an uncharted South Atlantic Wallich, in this translation, aptly 5/5(1).
